The RS Aero completely re-sets the standard for pure exhilaration in a simple single-hander. Ultra-light weight means the hull form and rigs need not be extreme, so the RS Aero is remarkably easy to handle.
And light weight makes the RS Aero exceptionally user-friendly on shore: Virtually anyone can lift the boat onto a car roof-rack – pulling it up the beach makes you smile – and simplicity means the boat can be rigged in moments.
High tech materials are used in the composite epoxy foam sandwich hull, with carbon fibre in high load areas and in the spars. Astonishingly, the RS Aero hull weighs less than an Optimist at just 30kg.
Our philosophy has always been to prioritise ultra-light weight, performance and practicality in order to produce a simple, yet refined and durable single-hander that will suit any sailor between 35 and 95kg.
Astonishingly, the RS Aero hull weighs less than an Optimist at just 30kg, with three rig options which will typically suit:
Lightweight sailors and youth - RS Aero 5
Women & light men - RS Aero 7
Men - RS Aero 9
The RS Aero ignites the excitement of sailing in its least complicated form – complex thinking leading to beautiful simplicity. It is affordable and, with RS Sailing’s global distribution network its huge potential is already happening. Hundreds of boats have been ordered across the world, production is underway and every week more sailors discover the RS Aero exceeds most expectations.

"Its Singlehanded Sailing 2.0"
Martin Wadhams Managing Director RS Sailing
"Just like to say after 4 days excellent sailing, I think this boat is great... meets all my requirements, light, responsive, testing but manageable .... you deserve to sell these all over the world."
"Goes like stink with terrific handling!! Cheers to all at RS"
"...I am convinced the Aero will be a huge success. I’d love to sail it much more and learn the fine detail, but overall it will be a big winner."
"Boat is brilliant, fantastic. Sailed all day Sunday and loved every minute!"
"I absolutely loved the boat can not wait to sail it in a real blow I think it will be something else. Many thanks to all at RS Sailing for all your efforts in bringing this boat to market. "
"A big 'thank you' from to all those involved in the design, development and production of this super boat; the award is well deserved. Further, the after sales support has in my experience been excellent and we have an active owners association, frankly, I don't see how it could be much better.
"Thank you also from a customer excellent service and a cracking boat to boot. thank you to the whole team who have worked hard over the last few years to make this come about.
"What a fantastic boat the RS Aero is!
Thank you so much, I have just had the greatest 5 days sailing Aero 1842 chartered for RS Aerocup: Melcesine regatta. First day in loads of wind blast around with Peter Barton then pretty intensive (good) training day followed by three fabulous days racing.
Peter, Junior and Ben always on hand to help and give useful tips and local club were super hosts.
If my personal plans progress I hope to be in an Aero next season!"
