Going out to more than 1600 Clubs, Schools and Centres both UK and worldwide. If you know someone who has not yet subscribed or wish to have all members of your training committee, point them in the direction of www.rssailing.com/training and let them sign up.

Big steps forward for RS in the UK Schools and Clubs Fleets.

The year has started well for RS, with a couple of huge deals in Europe and some large commercial fleet sales here in the UK. The message has now got around that we are working hard to work with you and really build those partnerships like no other manufacturer has in the past. To those of you who have been on the phone every week, letting me know how the boats are doing and what we can do to better equip you with kit that does the job, thank you.

The RS Tera, RS Q’BA and RS Feva have seen a huge increase in sales this year as the financial situation changes the way in which people spend their free time. Kids courses seem set to rise and with it the requirement for a fleet of single / double handers becomes more. For reviews of the boats please download the attached pdf’s which can be found under the training fleet boat review section.

The RS Vision continues to sell well and has benefited this year from extra resources that the RYA and other organisations are making available to centres for use with funding adult volunteer training. No longer is match funding purely available for the ‘youth’ boats. For more info ask your local RDO’s or me.

RYA Dinghy Show 2009 - Come and see us…
Wow… Its that time again. Another show! I’m looking forward to seeing many of you 7/8th March.

Anyone wishing to come to see me particularly with the aim of discussing a fleet replacement or development may wish to drop me a line before the show. I have already had a number of enquiries from Clubs and Schools coming to the show and would hate you to miss out if I’m busy. I’m thinking of having a planner for booking slots but I think that is a little over the top.

Catch my eye if I’m talking and leave your details (especially your mobile number) with one of my colleagues and I’ll call you back at the show so you will be able to swing on past a little later or I’ll catch you at one of the watering holes.

RYA Dinghy Instructor Conferences 2009...

The weekend conferences have begun and I will be coming to all regions over the next two months with a selection of boats for you to look at and play with. The new RS Q’BA and the Modified Training version of the RS500 will be on show at most of these one day spectaculars as well as other established classes in our training fleet. Give me a call to find out exactly what I’m bringing or just for a general chat. The RYA conference poster is available for you to print off if you have not received one from your RDO or training principal.

There are many price incentives for those of you looking at potential orders for the 2009 season.

Sources of funding...

For ideas on how you and your club could access more funding, download the attachment by clicking here. If you have any questions about this process, I have sat in your position and been through the process and am happy to advise.

Adult sailing can also benefit from match funding. Volunteer training is important and for more information on how your club could access funds to buy boats like the RS Vision, contact me or your local RDO.

First point of call should be regional access. Check out this link.

RS500 Schools Package...

I’ve spent a great deal of time training people of all ages and abilities and as an RYA Coach/Assessor I have a unique viewpoint amongst the manufacturing trade, leading me to I believe firmly that it is high time we gave our performance sailors the chance to learn in stiff, responsive, fibreglass boats. At what stage of their learning does a student actually get to feel what it is like to sail a performance boat? With this in mind, I have put together a package for the RS500 which some of you will hopefully take advantage of.

If you have not yet had a chance to test sail the RS500 to see what she can do then please come to the Regional RYA Conferences, sign up and have a go or drop me a line and we can set you up with a demonstration.

RS500 XL with cover and trolley £4,590 ex vat and ex delivery
Add an additional set of hard wearing Dacron training sails for only £278 ex vat

Training fleet boat reviews...

You don’t have to take my word for it! Read the reviews or ask for the number of a fleet user for an informal discussion.

These attachments can be very useful if comparing boats for your fleet. Written with feedback from unbiased sailors, they can often be the precursor for a demonstration day at your club. Click on the picture to download.

RS Training and Fleet Sales UK Update - Some recent examples...
  • RS are proud to announce that Rockley Watersports are now part of the RS Academy partnership. As an ISAF Connect to Sailing partner, Rockley is at the forefront of International sail training provision and is renowned for piloting innovative training schemes. I look forward to developing these links in the coming years.

  • Datchet Watersports have confirmed that they will be developing their fleet by replacing existing boats with RS equivalents. Thanks to all the team and may both parties continue to build on this success throughout 2009 and into the future.

  • Rutland Watersports will be developing their range of RS Boats this season with a complete fleet renewal. The integrity and honesty of the crew at Whitwell is a credit to the company and its tight team. I’m encouraged by this new stage in both of our organisations growth and will be looking forward to providing more facilities for RS in the Midlands with this Venue. Watch this space for RS Road Show days and forthcoming events.

  • Stanborough Park Watersports and Hertfordshire County Council / Welwyn Hatfield, have invested in a new 36 boat fleet to develop youth and adult sailing and with the addition of 6 Fevas for the ‘SPUDDS’ Under 19 development Squad, looking at moving youngsters on from sail training to regional and national competitions. The success of this development has been spawned a host of similar development plans around the region. For more information on how this has been achieved please contact Brian on 01707 327655.

  • Horning Sailing Club, winner of the ‘Peoples Millions’ award last year, for a new floating classroom on the Norfolk Broads, have taken delivery of their new fleet of RS Teras. They bought the boats as a Volvo Champion Club to enable youngsters to bridge the gap from more established single handers to the established RYA Pathway Classes after extensive testing against the Laser Bug. For more information about the decision and how it has benefited the clubs Development Plan contact Bob Hancock through Horning SC.

  • Helford River Childrens Sailing Trust has made the first Capital investment to their fleet in the last Decade and have purchased a new 15 boat fleet to compliment their existing 2 Fevas. This Organisation, with Royal Patronage, educates and trains hundreds of Youngsters in the Helford River region of Cornwall and uses almost 100% Volunteers. I would like to extend my thanks to Alison, Elsa and the entire team at HRCST for believing in the RS range and for the opportunity to be involved. I’m looking forward to coming down again. Keep up the good work.

If you would like to be mentioned on the next newsletter, please drop me a line. I’m only sorry that I cant mention everybody at once.
