RS Academy Launch Days
Opening ceremonies have been held at The Mountbatten
Centre in Plymouth, and at Whitlingham Outdoor Education
Centre in Norfolk, officially marking the partnership
scheme with LDC Racing Sailboats. Many people enjoyed
the days, taking part in demonstrations of the new boats
and, for many, enjoying their first experience of
sailing. The Launch Days generated lots of publicity for
the RS Academies, with attendance from photographers and
reporters from local press. With the new RS Academy page
going live at
www.RSsailing.com any day now, the news of what's on
offer is reaching a vast range of people. Any clubs or
centres who wish to find out about becoming an RS

RS Tera loan fleet
RS has a fleet of six RS Tera Sports on a road trailer,
for loan to clubs, schools and centres.If you would like
to book the fleet for your club as part of an open day

RS Institutional extras
The addition of a range of extras that have been
designed to give the RS Tera, RS Feva and RS Vision a
much more diverse flexibility of use has proved to be a
popular decision. The Vision bow fender and combination
towing system has been hugely successful, with lots of
centres ordering boats with these accessories in place.
Once the new look web pages are uploaded, I will be
placing pictures and a list of items with their related
prices on these pages for you all to look at. Until
then, if anyone has any queries about how to make your
boats even more easy to use for the purposes of

Portsmouth Outdoor Centre
Portsmouth Outdoor Centre has taken delivery of 48 RS
boats for use as part of their extensive programme of
outdoor education. The fleet comprises 16 Feva XL’s, 12
Vision XL’s and 20 Sport rigged Teras, making it the
largest single fleet of our boats. Manager and RYA Coach
Paul Rivington is working closely with me to develop the
boats for use within the training environment,
demonstrating exactly the kind of progression that the
RS APB range dinghies can offer to sailors whatever
their age or experience. The Centre is due to be
launched as an RS Academy in the near future, and will
be a showcase not only for the boats, but for the
innovative way in which the Centre adapts the kit to
make it as user friendly as possible. Anyone wishing to
discuss how and why it works, can e-mail Paul direct -
paul@portsmouthoutdoor.co.uk and ask him anything
you need to know.
I would like to thank the whole team at Portsmouth
Outdoor Centre for all of their continued enthusiasm and

Demonstration Days
With the season in full swing, it is sometimes easy to
overlook how quickly the end of the summer comes around and,
before we know it, the fleet gets packed up for another
winter. If any of you have dates when the calendar is not
full, and you are thinking of a possible replacement of some
of your training boats, then please get in contact.
Demonstrations of the RS training boats are free of charge
and, depending on timings, I can organise full or half days.
It is worth getting these booked in early, as September to
December is always very busy due to the impending boat show
season. I hope to see lots of you on my travels around the
country and sample more of those brilliant cups of tea! |
