A little rain at the start couldn’t dampen the excitement as 75 sailors from 7 countries gathered at Jachetní klub Černá v Pošumaví in Lake Lipno, Czech Republic for the RS Tera World Championship 2025
Practice Day
With sunshine soon breaking through, sailors took to the water in 8 – 10 knot breeze, enjoying a practice race that gave young competitors a taste of what was to come over the action-packed week. The smiles on their faces as they sailed alongside friends said it all. This was going to be a week to remember.
After their first experience on the championship course, the RS Tera Opening Ceremony brought the event to life. It was a joyous scene as teams waved their national flags proudly. Sailors from all over the world came together, united by music, laughter, and motivational speeches from the people who make this event such a special platform for the next generation of world-class sailors. Sailing, smiles, and team spirit were everywhere!
A Strong Start to Racing
Day 1 delivered stronger wind conditions, pushing the young sailors to test their skills. In the Sport Fleet, Hari Clark (4118) emerged as the early leader, followed by Yevhenii Kuzmenko (4285) and Arina Duzha (3872). Over in the Pro Fleet, Oleksandr Chykalov (3880) took the lead, with Team GB’s Rafe Bradley (2311) and Jasper Jenkinson (2874) hot on his heels.
After a challenging day on the water, the fun continued ashore with the Czech RS Tera Team rocking out on the main stage – what a highlight!
Midweek Sunshine and Fun Ashore
Midweek cast sunshine across Lake Lipno with sparkling water and champagne sailing conditions. Off the water, sailors and their families gathered at the beach bar, enjoying lawn games, refreshments, and some well-earned downtime. Parents and organisers joined in the relaxed atmosphere, while sailors made new international friendships.
Back on the water, 6–8 knots of breeze allowed all skill levels to shine. The top three competitors had started to separate from the rest of the fleets, battling it out for the top spot. Evening entertainment included a lively Kahoot quiz and a Czech-themed night featuring local treats and music, a celebration of both culture and community.
Champions Crowned
After four days of racing, ranging from gentle breezes to ideal afternoon winds, the RS Tera World Championship at the Festival of Sails drew to a close. The varied conditions made for a fair and exciting competition, rewarding well-rounded sailors capable of adapting to any challenge.
