RS21 Sailing: How To Join In The Fun

November 26, 2025

Do you want to get into keelboat sailing, but not sure where to start? The RS21 circuit creates great opportunities for sailing for all abilities.

Why RS21?

Keelboat racing offers a dynamic entry point into the world of sailing. Balancing stability and exciting performance, the RS21 is a modern one-design keelboat that moves the game forward.

The RS21 is the ideal keelboat fleet; versatile for both training and racing purposes. For training, it offers a stable, comfortable environment that promotes learning in a modern, efficient boat. For racing, it delivers an unparalleled experience. With identical one-design boats, success on the racecourse is determined by crew skill and strategy, not equipment disparities.

Designed for club fleets and one-design racing, the RS21 strikes the ideal balance between ease of use and high-performance sailing. It’s built to be fun, fast, and accessible, offering low maintenance, excellent value, and pure sailing enjoyment. The RS21 maximizes convenience and minimizes complexity, making it the perfect choice to for close and competitive racing.

How To Get Involved

There are multiple ways and opportunities to get involved in RS21s, for all abilities across the world. Find your perfect pathway into modern keelboat racing with the RS21 with this 4-step approach:

1. Find A Fleet

A great way to try out an RS21 is to ‘pay & play’ at a local sailing club that has a fleet of RS21s already. You can demo a boat, participate in a keelboat program, or join in and crew for a local regatta. Depending on your location, here’s a list of the top clubs/sailing centres we recommend:

UK:

USA:

Canada

Netherlands:

2. Join A Class Association

You don’t need to own a boat to join a Class Association! Join your national class association to connect with owners, join crew lists and find out more about RS21 events near you.

National Class Associations:

  • Italy:
  • Poland:
  • Canada:
  • UK & IE Fleet:

International Class Association

A World Sailing Recognised Class Association, the International Class hosts a EuroCup series as well as a World Championships every year. Find out more about the International Class Association: ASSOCIATION | RS21 Class Association

3. Charter A Boat

A limited number of Charter Boats are available for events in Europe. Charters at events arrive rigged and ready to go, and include the transport fee, craning and detailed handover in the charter booking fee. Head to www.rssailing.club to find out more.

4. Invest in Your Own RS21

Hooked? You can own your own RS21 and start thinking about next season’s campaigns. Speak to a member of our Sales Team to find out more about what spec is best suited to your needs. We also have a selection of used boats – as well as the opportunity to buy new – if you’re looking for a pre-loved price point.
