Meet Sammy Isaacs-Johnson! The new RS Aero UK & International Class Manager, taking on the role from Peter Barton, who’s passing on the baton after 11 years steering the class.
Sammy’s journey began with the RS Aero over a decade ago too:
“In 2014, on a day trip to Hayling Island SC (HISC) I met someone who said ‘Hey, do you want to come and try this new boat?’ Little did I know, this 20-minute sail would be such a turning point in my life. 12 years later, after multiple World, European and National championships along the way, I am very excited to be taking on the role as RS Aero UK and International Class Manager.”
We caught up with Sammy at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show to hear what’s in store for the 2026 season. Watch the video to find out more about:
- Training, coaching & online sessions
- UK Grand Prix series
- A fresh new format for the Nationals
- RS Aero Europeans & Youth Worlds at the RS Games 2026
Following his appointment, Sammy wrote on LinkedIn: “With the Class being in such safe hands for the last 11 years with the amazing Peter Barton, we have spent the last few months handing over. As I’ve been told a few times now, I’m very aware these are some big boots to fill. This role is a really exciting opportunity to continue to grow and put passion into what is (in my opinion), the most fun, friendly and rewarding dinghy class there is to be a part of. I am working closely with all parties, RS Sailing, the UK RS Aero Class, and key players internationally, to build an exciting future for this amazing boat. For now, watch this space, and see you on the water or at an event somewhere soon, oh and Pete, how do I…”
From the whole team at RS Sailing, we want to say a big welcome to Sammy and we’re excited for a fantastic first season ahead.
