We have set aside today to celebrate the life of an RS Legend, Jonathan Lewis.
Jonathan Lewis has been a part of the RS family from the very beginning. He started racing in the RS400 and RS200 Class, he even had an RS Vareo at one point, and like everything else he did, Jon was a core part of these fleets.
In 2007 after an RS Feva squad weekend at Burghfield Sailing Club, he ended up being involved with the Junior RS Classes, and this was when he found his love for coaching and inspiring young sailors.
Jon was a great sailor and will be remembered by so many he competed against, but Jon’s real legacy will be the effect he had on so many young sailors. Jon’s straight-talking approach to coaching, genuine passion for the sport, and brilliant stories made him an inspiration to so many. The RS Tera and RS Feva Class have been undeniably shaped by Jon and have a lot to thank him for.
“Today, the RS classes are a little poorer. We have lost a great sailor, a brilliant coach, and to me, a good friend. RS Tera and RS Feva World Championships will never be the same again”, Jon Partridge, CEO – RS Sailing.
