Located just 160 nautical miles (300km) northeast of Singapore in Indonesia’s remote Anmbas Archipelago, the Bawah Reserve comprises 6 islands, 3 lagoons and a 13 beaches. Surrounded by clear turquoise waters and coral reefs, this pristine and previously uninhabited marine conservation area caters to outdoor adventurers with an appetite for indulgence as well as paradise seekers looking for relaxation.
My name is Sakti and I am in charge of running all the activities on the Reserve, helping to create a memorable experience for all our guests. Our Reserve is all about exploring the unknown, the undiscovered, above, below and beyond. Through the activities we offer, we are inviting our guests and everyone on the Reserve to connect with nature and be more ‘present’, to have a good time with themselves, their surroundings and the people taking part in these experiences with them.
The Bawah Reserve was introduced RS sailboats in 2017, since using them to provide both relaxing and adventurous water-based activities to everyone visiting the reserve, and enabling us to protect our underwater ecosystem which is rich with a wide variety of marine life. Our lagoon is a perfect balance of sandy sea floor, shallow coral reefs and deep drop off, with an average windspeed at 10 knots on any given day, sailing on a dinghy like an RS Feva can be a relaxing activity to take part in.
The RS Feva sailboat is one of our favourite pieces of water activity equipment. Every time we offer it to our guests who have no previous sailing experience or families with teens/children who are eager to experiencing sailing, we always address it as ‘our sweet little boat’. For us, that’s exactly what the boat is all about.
Your journey to our island paradise starts in Singapore, where you will be collected from your hotel, airport or residence by our chauffeur. A travel coordinator will escort you by ferry to Batam International Airport, where you will board our private seaplane for an 80 minute journey, landing on Bawah Reserve’s spectacular lagoon in front of your suite, just in time for a gourmet lunch….or a sail, whatever takes your fancy!
We choose the RS Feva not only because is easy to learn and control, but it is also comfortable enough for two people to sit and talk while exploring our reef, it has a really good buoyancy and perfectly handles any kind of waves gusty wind that sometimes appears around our lagoon. This makes the RS Feva perfect for everyone.
To sum up, and very much from the perspective of a little sailor, the RS Feva offers us and our guests confidence and this sense of safety that visitors feel while enjoying our Reserve.
