Dit weekend wordt in Bruinisse (Zeeland) het Open Nederlands Kampioenschap gevaren in de RS500 en RS Aero.

De zeilers lijken er enorm veel zin in te hebben met ruim 40 deelnemers in de RS500 klasse en bijna 30 deelnemers in de RS Aero, worden er meer zeilers verwachten dan in de afgelopen jaren. 

Het evenement wordt georganiseerd door de beide klasse organisaties in samenwerking met ZCK uit Hank, Jachthaven Bruinisse en Aquavitesse.

Ook dit jaar staat er weer een super team van vrijwilligers van ZCK klaar om er een heel mooi zeilweekend van de maken. Wij zijn enorm dankbaar dat deze vrijwilligers onder de huidige omstandigheden weer allemaal paraat staan om er weer een fantastisch zeil weekend van te maken.

De RS500 klasse heeft een record aantal deelnemers. Met 41 boten (82 zeilers) uit vijf verschillende landen aan de start wordt komend weekend gestreden om de Nederlandse titel. Onder de deelnemers een aantal, binnen en buiten de klasse, bekende namen met Europese en Wereld podium plaatsen op hun naam beloofd het een spannend evenement te worden. Onder de kanshebbers zien we oud-Nederlands kampioen Anneke Kikkert, maar ook Bruno en Edith Goris, die dit jaar vaak te zien waren op het water van Bruinisse. Zeker niet te vergeten zijn Esther Hopmans met bemanning Menno Berens (oud-Europees kampioen in de Yngling) en natuurlijk Raimond Mooij met z’n lokale kennis, die voor dit evenement een semi-prof, en kind aan huis in Bruinisse, heeft weten te strikken voor het evenement. Vele ogen zullen gericht zijn op Pim van Vugt die zich vorige week nog als eerste Nederlander in de historie kwalificeerde voor de Olympische Spelen in het koningsnummer, de 49-er klasse. Pim werd samen met zijn zus al tweemaal Wereldkampioen in de RS500 klasse en alhoewel hij zeilen als z’n beroep kan zien, blijft het NK in de RS500 samen met zijn zus hem trekken als de perfecte weekendbesteding.

Ook in de RS Aero komen er zeilers aan bod uit vijf verschillende landen. Nadat de RS Aero door World Sailing als grote winnaar uit de bus kwam als equipment voor de Olympische eenmans dinghy, is de klasse in opmars geraakt. De klasse groeit hard in Nederland en omliggende landen. Met een superlichte romp van slechts 32kg en drie verschillende rigs is de boot specifiek ontwikkeld voor een pathway waarin jeugd en dames in de RS Aero 5, lichte mannen in de RS Aero 7 en zwaardere mannen in de RS Aero 9 actieve competitie kunnen vinden. Met vloten in alle landen in Europa is de RS Aero niet meer weg te denken uit wedstrijd zeilende klassen. Bruinisse heeft er zin in! Naast lokale zeilers uit Zeeland verwachten we zeilers uit de rest van Nederland, België, Duitsland en Frankrijk.

Jachthaven Bruinisse en Aquavitesse hebben alle benodigde voorbereidingen getroffen om dit evenement veilig te kunnen laten doorgaan. De venue in Bruinisse staat bekend om zijn wedstrijden maar zeker ook om de sociale activiteiten rondom de wedstrijden. Helaas zijn deze dit jaar niet mogelijk. Het Notice board is digitaal en de inschrijvingen gaan online. Dit mag de pret niet drukken voor alle zeilers waarvan voor velen dit de eerste wedstrijd van het jaar zal zijn.

Toch zullen de vriendelijke glimlach van de vrijwilligers,  de medewerkers van Aquavitesse en de jachthaven van Bruinisse er voor zorgen dat iedereen zo veel mogelijk een prettig weekend kan varen.

Met een mooie bries in de weersvoorspelling beloofd het heel veel goeds. Perfecte weersomstandigheden voor de moderne rompvormen van de RS Klassen RS Aero en RS500.
