By the RS Aero Class Association
26 RS Aeros from different 5 countries enjoyed the Dutch RS Aero Nationals, alongside the RS500s, with fantastic sailing weather and a really professional race committee. It was particularly noteworthy that even the start line was redesigned for the RS Aeros after the start of the RS500s. An inner and outer loop course with a starting delay of 10 minutes kept the fleets apart nicely.
In the RS Aero 5 class the podium was occupied by 3 young women after 8 races. The Belgian Anouck De Ripainsel won.
The field of RS Aero 7 was again dominated by last year’s winner Shivam Ramdas of the Netherlands winning the title of Dutch Champion with just 8 points overall.
Karlijn van den Boogaard finished top lady in the RS Aero 7 fleet in 4th overall.
It was nice to see a good mix of different nations doing well with large fleets visiting from Belgium and Germany, together with sailors from France and the UK joining the growing Dutch fleet.
This year the social part had to take a back seat but it was great to meet sailing friends again after a quiet season of international events this year.
