Charleston, SC – Racing is heading back to Charleston, South Carolina for another running of Charleston Race Week. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever, with four inshore race courses, two offshore courses and over 180 entries. This year is especially exciting for the team at RS because the 2022 Charleston Race Week will include an entire fleet of RS21s.
There are eleven RS21s currently registered. The fleet features teams from across the United States as well as two international competitors. “We are really excited about having a full fleet of RS21S in Charleston this year,” says Head of North American Sales, Todd Riccardi. “Last year the pandemic forced organizers to hold a scaled-back event that saw fewer boats and sailors traveling and competing. This year, sailors are ready to get back to normal and racing.”
The fleet of RS21s includes a mix of chartered boats and privately owned boats. Sailors that are chartering a boat get the unique experience of sailing the boat, without having to figure out the logistics of getting the boat to/from the event. There are still a few boats available for charter! If you are interested reach out to Todd at todd@rssailing.com.
Not only are the RS21s racing throughout the week, but they are also being used for the Pro-Am Regatta on Saturday. The Pro-Am Regatta features some of the best racing sailors in the sport. The one-design racing will be done on a short course set close to shore, so spectators can watch all of the action live. Among the notable sailors set to compete is former Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year, Cory Sertl.
With so many exciting events Charleston Race Week is guaranteed to be a regatta unlike any other. Stay up-to-date on all the action and see the results here!
