RS Sailing is excited to present an exclusive opportunity for sailors to own a ex-demo fleet RS21 after the 2022 New York Yacht Club Resolute Cup.
The RS21 has quietly been growing in North America. In two phases nearly 50 of the 200+ RS21s sold worldwide have landed in North America and all spread amongst two phases. In 2019 there were pre-Covid successful events such as Charleston Race Week, Sailing World Nood Regattas, Sarasota Winter Series, and more. Much of this was made possible with the “Six Pack” demo fleet of 6 boats sent to the US in 2019.
Then as the global pandemic took over the world and the majority of the population not able to sail with people from outside of their household, the RS21 demo fleet was sadly put into storage for over a year.
However, it didn’t stop everyone, some private clubs such as Lakewood Yacht Club and San Francisco Yacht Club forged forwards. As San Francisco YC posted glamourous photos on Instagram, they commented, “They (RS21) are such fun boats, whether match racing or going out with the family for a lively sail, our members love them!”
In 2021, US Sailing and the Eastern Yacht Club came knocking asking to use 12 for the 100th Anniversary Sears Cup Trophy. With such a great opportunity, RS Sailing sent six 2021 model boats which took our demo fleet to twelve.
2022 has been a refreshing fresh start, with a great RS21 One Design fleet at Charleston Race Week, including several private owners. Several clubs have chartered RS21s for the summer and the rest lie waiting to be used in the prestigious New York Yacht Club Resolute Cup in September Newport, Rhode Island.
In order to keep up supporting these great events, RS Sailing must cycle these boats out to replace with newer boats in 2023. These boats have been well maintained in between the approximate 20 days they have sailed. This provides a very special opportunity for your sailing club to purchase a fleet of RS21s.
