The Crown Jewel in the RS Sailing Youth range of Sailing Dinghies is undoubtedly the RS Feva. Fun, dynamic and full of flavour. Whether you are a committed racer or a new sailor looking to enjoy the wind and waves over a sunny bank holiday the Feva has everything you need. As well as its unparalleled racing pedigree the RS Feva suits the family summer boat. It can be sailed by young whippersnappers just as easily as a father and son outing whilst also offering mum an adrenaline-filled solo blast in the setting sun.
The RS Feva is the boat of choice for sailing clubs up and down the country as well as abroad. If you fancy having a try, get in touch with your local club and see if they have a boat you can have a go in.
So, often the kids don’t want to do anything but go as fast as they can. Unfortunately, sometimes their enthusiasm out weights their ability. What to do? Tell them they can’t go sailing? No! send them out in the RS Feva, enough performance to satisfy the most ruthless thrill seeker the appropriately sized spinnaker means that when they get it wrong and inevitably end up in the drink, the spinnaker is quickly packed away, the boat righted, and they are off again, as the boat is the correct size for the youngsters to right it quickly and effectively. Additionally, moving the boat around the boat park is just as important as sailing it on the water. The Feva is designed for youth participation and so easy for the kids to move around the boat park, rig, launch and recover.
The construction of high performance and high durability PE3 rotomolded plastic means that not only does the Feva perform very well on a racecourse it’s cost-effective to get you a great boat at rock bottom prices. From a training and learning point of view the RS rotomoulded series of boats means that they are virtually maintenance-free, this just means more time on the water and the odd prang or ding won’t have you off the water for weeks. It teaches the young sailor to sail with confidence and forces them to make the mistakes that are essential to improving technique.
The racing side is great fun at any level and the RS community is a fun way to start, that can open up so many opportunities in the future for any sailor. With an abundance of clubs around the country with friendly fleets to get involved there’s no barrier, so get stuck in! There is so much excellent training put on by many local organisations and the RYA Pathway class provides excellent support and world-leading coaching.
In a world where it may seem sailing is a male-dominated sport, not in the RS Feva! The RS Feva boasts nearly a 50/50 participation between male and female sailors. This split helps grow many life skills, as well as the obvious social benefits of sailing a double-handed dinghy.
- Communication – being able to speak to your partner quickly and clearly in times of high pressure (excuse the pun) is a lifelong lesson. Staying calm when things aren’t going your way and leaning to work with the people around you is a lesson even the top business people of this world could do with.
- Cooperating – you won’t always like what happening or what you’re being asked to do, however, sometimes it’s not your call and you have to go with it. Learning to lead and be led in a partnership is the gateway to be a professional sailor.
- Consideration – it’s not all about you anymore. There are two people in this boat and if one of you isn’t firing on all cylinders then the boat simply won’t sail as well, if at all! Learning how we affect others with what we say and do, is a critical skill to take anywhere.
- Concentration – sometimes you just need to roll up your sleeves and do some hard work. Concentrating isn’t necessarily that fun but its something we all must do from time to time and once you see the outcome that a little concentration can give, you’ll learn to focus even more.
Sailing really does improve all of these life long skills and the RS Feva’s platform to do so, we believe, is an epic way to start. So, try the RS Feva for yourself and see what all the fuss is about!
If you have any questions about the Feva in your area, then please get in touch and we can help with any query you may have. Equally, if you are sold and you’d like to build a package to get on the water in the fantastic RS Feva then why not get in touch with the Sales Team.
We look forward to the RS Feva fleet growing even more and see the legends take on the sailing scene by storm! Why not join them and become a legend too…?
