Make RS Sailing Part of Your ‘Winter Sun’ Vacation

December 1, 2023

One of the best parts about going on vacation is the chance to get away and try new things. And for anyone living in a place without palm trees, winter vacations usually entail heading to snow, or trying to get as far away from snow as possible. For those that lean towards fun in the sun, the Caribbean offers ideal warm-weather getaways. An added benefit of vacationing near the beach? The chance to get out sailing and enjoy new waters. With that in mind, here is a list of places where you can sail an RS Sailing boat while on holiday.

Caribbean —

Antigua —

Jumby Bay Resort, AntiguaJumby Bay Resort is billed as one of the most desirable, all-inclusive retreats in the Caribbean. This family friendly resort offers crystal beaches, spa packages and water activities, including sailing. In fact, the resort offers an intensive Sailing Academy package for all ages and levels, from beginners to racers. The Jumby Bay Island Sailing Academy’s fleet is comprised of RS Zests and RS Elites. Experienced sailors are invited to take part in a weekly sailing regatta on Friday afternoons at Davis Bay Marina. Enjoy a little friendly competition on the high seas and battle for the top spot in one of the 4 RS Elite sail boats. It’s a race to the finish where a bucket of ice-cold drinks await

LM Watersports, Antigua – The first and only small-sailboat/catamaran dealer and water-sports program management specialists in Antigua. At LM Watersports holiday makers can learn, sail and enjoy their time on the water. The team offer lessons and excursions, letting visitors explore the beautiful Nonsuch Bay in their fleet of RS Zests, RS Quba and RS CATs. Looking to keep the kids busy? They offer both day and week-long camps for junior sailors.

Virgin Islands —

Necker Island Watersports CentreFor those willing to spend a little (or a lot) extra this holiday season they can book a stay on Sir Richard Branson’s private island paradise in the British Virgin Islands. Necker Island is a stunning and unspoiled area of the Caribbean. It sits in turquoise waters surrounded by coral reefs, fringed with beautiful white sandy beaches and is home to the most spectacular wildlife. This island is typically reserved for private guests of Branson, or those that rent out the entire island. But for a limited time, the general public can book an individual room and stay. Aside from enjoying the beautiful and highly exclusive resort, guests can get out on the water and enjoy some sailing. They have a team of highly qualified instructors that can get you out sailing.

Turks and Caicos —

Provo Sailing Academy, Turks and Caicos – Provo Sailing Academy has everything you could want on a Caribbean vacation, offering lessons in sailing, rowing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddleboarding. The sailing is done with a fleet of RS Zests. Guests can choose from a wide range of lessons, from one-on-one private sessions to a group lesson for the whole family. Best of all, this non-profit sailing club ensures all proceeds go back into the local community sailing program.

St. Kitts and Nevis —

Beach Addiction, St Kitts and Nevis – Whether you’d like to sit back and relax and be sailed around by a skipper or get handson and learn to steer your own boat, Beach Addiction has everything you could want. They have dinghies, including the RS Feva, that are quick and fun to get going. Aside from their small boats, they have a 33′ Sloop that guests can sail for the day, pop over to Nevis for some lunch, stop for some snorkelling and even put out a line and maybe catch dinner.

St. Maarten —

St. Maarten Yacht ClubSMYC uses their fleet of RS Quests and offers private classes during the week or in the weekend. This is a perfect way to focus on developing your personal skill set and fit in your schedule around any other activities you may have planned. They offer single private classes, duo private classes and group private classes for a group of 4 people. The group private classes are offered in blocks of 4 classes. With so many options to choose from, vacationers are guaranteed to find something that works for them.

Bermuda —

USail Bermuda – Why not get together with friends and get out on the water? USail Bermuda offers a group sailing option that is perfect for those who want to learn to sail with friends and family aboard their fleet of RS Zests. This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill, while spending quality time together. Staying for a longer trip? Take advantage of their longer camp options for both kids and adults.

St. Barts —

Saint Barth Yacht Club – Crystal clear waters? White sand beaches? Yes please! Saint Barth Yacht Club is a great place to dip your toes into the sport – whether you’re a seasoned sailor or newbie. The club has rental options alongside lessons for both youths and adults, with a fleet of RS Zests, RS Fevas, RS Quests and RS Ventures up for grabs.

With so many amazing places to choose from, deciding on a vacation destination can often take some of the relaxation out of the joy of getting away. Take away the guesswork by using this list and be certain that your vacation is the best getaway possible. But one thing is for sure, if you’re sailing an RS Sailing boat, it’s a guaranteed good time!
