The RS Aero has quickly become the world’s best-selling single hander and is globally recognised as an awesome racing class. As interest grows in more regions and age groups, RS Sailing are working in partnership with the German RS Aero Class Association and RS Sailing Deutschland to launch the RS Aero Youth Team Germany, providing an accessible pathway for young sailors into the class.

As part of this program, five sailors between the age of 13 and 21 will have the chance to charter a fully equipped RS Aero for the 2022 sailing season, to be used and maintained as if it were their own. Aside from local sailing, members of the German RS Aero Youth Team will attend the following events:
- German RS Aero Class Association Youth Training | Kiel, April 29-May 1
- German RS Aero Nationals | Warnemünde, July 7- July 10
- RS Aero Youth Worlds | Weymouth, July 23-July 29
- As well as 2 other events of the German RS Aero Challenge of their choice
In return for being a part of the German RS Aero Youth team, the selected sailors will submit a monthly blog or video recounting their sailing adventures to be shared on the RS Sailing and the German RS Aero Class Association websites, as well as on social media using #RSAeroJugend #RSAeroYouth.
If selected, members of the German RS Aero Youth Team will pay a charter fee of €1250 to receive a brand-new RS Aero, ready to sail with a 5 rig. Participants will have to transport themselves and their RS Aero’s to events, and maintain their boats to an excellent standard. At the end of the season, they may return their boats to RS Sailing Deutschland, or purchase them outright at a discounted price.
Applications are now open here until 08 March 2022. They will be screened and selected by a member of RS Sailing, RS Sailing Deutschland, and the German RS Aero Class Association. The lucky winners will be announced shortly after, with boats available for pickup in Hamburg approximately mid-April.
