What’s the project?
At RS Sailing, we are really passionate about getting more people involved in the sport and sailing lifestyle. So, we partnered with the Swedish Sailing Federation (SSF) to provide the best introductory teaching platform that will create memorable experiences for those thinking about getting more involved. Safe to say the RS Quest has delivered above and beyond expectations! The SSF provide an excellent training program across grassroots to elite level, and we believe first experiences in sailing are key for determining the future of their sailing. We know having a safe and positive experience in the RS Quest will encourage more participation across the sport, but the RS Quest’s adaptability in combination with the opportunities embedded in the SSF program encourages the enhancement of skills for racing. Though this project has come to an end, we are super pleased to know that all the RS Quests are still being used in clubs across Sweden and are the ideal training dinghy for all abilities.
Why the RS Quest?
The SSF tested many introductory boats and found the RS Quest was superior and the most suitable for young adults learning. Why is this important? Having a balance between simple, exciting and high performance isn’t always easy – but don’t worry, RS Sailing have done all the hard work and created the complete package. Easy-going and forgiving for first experiences on the water, yet opportunistic relative to your ability. It’s perfect for exploring the basics of sailing and offers reefing, spinnaker, stowage and a host of other options to be tried in a safe environment. We know it’s the ideal teaching platform and the most approachable dinghy available for boosting confidence and building skills, but do you? You might be wondering if sailing is for you… well, the RS Quest Project in Sweden has shown that it really is for everyone. In Sweden, many people learn to sail from a young age and island-hopping makes for a great summer holiday. Surrounding yourself with family, friends and likeminded people who enjoy the atmosphere around sailing is the best way to experience its true ethos. It isn’t always about racing, most of the time it’s about feeling the elements and taking a break from our busy lives… We want people from all ages and abilities to know that we have a boat designed for them, whether it’s for mindful leisure or to get a buzz from racing, there’s something for all.
How can I get involved?
