RS Sailing proudly announce that they are looking to reintroduce production of the popular RS100 single-handed dinghy. RS Sailing have been working closely with the RS100 Class Association, with a production run planned for 2022.
Coinciding with this production run, a number of updates have been agreed which are planned to include the following:
- Carbon trailing edge on both foils, as seen on the RS200 and RS Aero
- “C” shaped rudder stock, to allow the rudder blade to be rotated vertically
- Carbon tiller
- Allen fit out as standard
- Simplified centreboard controls
- Improvements to the spinnaker chute entrance to prevent halyard damage
- Removal of spinnaker sheet tidys, giving a cleaner look to the foredeck
New boats will be built in the UK and priced at £11,990.00 inc VAT ready to sail. Full pricing can be found on the RS Sailing Pricing Page.
A minimum order quantity of 10 boats has been agreed, for which there is a special launch offer. For orders placed before 31st December 2021, we are aiming to have delivery of your new RS100 in the Spring 2022.
David Smart, UK Chair of the RS100 Class Association commented “We are delighted that RS Sailing are continuing their support of the RS100 class by building new boats. Eleven years from its launch, the RS100 remains a very desirable high performance hiking skiff with blistering downwind speed thanks to the asymmetric spinnaker. The sailors have provided feedback that is being used by RS Sailing to design in some small changes to the new boats. However, the all-important one-design ethos of the boat is retained. This not only ensures the competitiveness of older boats, but also delivers an up-to-date boat for discerning buyers in today’s market.”
The class is looking into both demo days and coaching for 2022 to help others discover that sailing the boat is easier than it looks and great fun; something that the burgeoning fleets at Netley SC and Chew Valley Lake SC already know. For details on coaching and demo days, please contact the RS100 Class Association directly.
