RS Tera World Championships 2023 at Lake Iseo, Italy

The RS Tera Worlds was a memorable event with light wind conditions that really put competitors to the test. This year’s Championship was at Associazione Nautica Sebina and hosted 65 boats from 7 countries. Great races were held and friendships firmly made – all amongst the stunning scenery of Lake Iseo in Sulzano.

After a no wind day on Day 1, and very light winds making for super tactical decisions on Day 2 & 3, the race committee made the decision to catch the early morning wind for the Thursday and Friday regattas – with sunrise starts and first warning signals going off at 8am. RS Sailing’s Oli King was on the water all week with his camera and had this to say: “It was a very positive event considering there was very little wind, everyone loved the venue and the club was fantastic!”

As we know, the RS Tera fleet get togethers are not just about racing. Competitors made the most of their free time making friends with pontoon water fights, diving competitions and pasta parties during evening dinners.

There were also plenty of social throughout the week including a visit to the Ca’Del Bosco vineyard cellars, a trip to the Torbiere del Sebino nature reserve, a private boat ride to Monte Isola and a hike to the San Fermo Church.

It was great to see participants from Great Britain, Czech Republic, USA, Italy, Sweden, Lithuania and also the Ukrainian team who have been supported from Club MRSV Bavaria. A special thanks goes to the hosts’ Associazione Nautica Sebina, who generously waved the entry fees for Ukraine, and the International Class, who covered their registrations fees, to help make this entry happen.

Representing Ukraine, Yevhenii Kuzmenko came first in the RS Tera Sport Class while GBR’s Ben Greenhalgh took the podium position in the Pro Overall Class. You can see the full results on the RS Tera World Championships 2023 Official Notice Board and photos at Oli King Photography.
