A dinghy is a big investment. At RS Sailing, we understand this commitment, and we are big believers in multi-purposing to maximise value for money.
The RS Zest is one of those versatile investments. Designed as a beginner sailing boat it can also double-up as a yacht tender when it’s teamed with an RS Rowing Kit. Here’s how you can transform the RS Zest to ‘tender mode’ in four simple steps:
- Drop the Mast – open the Clunk-Click mast gate lock to release the mast. The lightweight 2-part mast is made from aluminium alloy with a foam insert so is easy to manoeuvre and place down.
- Raise the Rudder (or remove completely) – with a kick-up grounding system and a lock-up/lock-down rudder system, it’s easy to flick the rudder up and out of the way.
- Slot in the RS Rowing Kit – the rowlocks come with self-tapping screws for easy installation. Simply pop them into the fitting attachments.
- Lift-up the Centreboard – raise the rotating centreboard system to give greater control while steering with the oars.
Centre yourself on the thwart, grab the oars, and you’re good to go! Got more than a boat load? You can easily tow floating items, like paddleboards, by using the built-in tow points on the stern.
With space for 1-3 crew and a hull specifically designed for stability and smart weight distribution, the RS Zest has plenty of built-in buoyancy. It’s also lightweight, making it easy to trolley launch from slipways, and it’s tough PE3 construction means it can be dragged-up a beach unscathed and sit pretty while you explore ashore.
The RS Zest’s low maintenance design means it can sit happily on a mooring if you’re off adventuring on your bigger yacht or it can be towed along behind and come along for the journey. Not only that, but once its tender duties are done, it can be converted back to sailing mode so family and friends can play once you reach your destination.
