The Noble Marine Rooster RS400 National Championships 2023 sets sail today in Marazion – watched over by the magnificent castle on St. Michael’s Mount.
A whopping 70 boats have entered and will be battling it out on the racecourse amid the legendary waves.
Marazion is a beautiful seaside town with soft, sandy beaches and a gradual gradient of hard-packed flats – ideal for launching dinghies with ease. Two-miles east of Penzance, the town is connected to the tidal island St. Michael’s Mount which can be accessed by the dramatic causeway at low water.
The Nationals are hosted by Mounts Bay Sailing Club; an experienced championship club who host prestigious dinghy championships every year. Sailors can expect socials including the Commodore’s Reception, a trip to St. Michael’s Mount and a Championship Supper.
The RS400s Class is all about inclusivity. National Champions, Sam Knight and Chris Bownes, assisted crews with some pre-Nationals coaching yesterday to help make the event as welcoming as possible. Rooster’s generous title sponsorship includes daily prizes for the top 3 boats in the gold, silver and bronze fleets throughout the event – meaning that every sailor has a chance to win! Best of luck to everyone in the fleets.
