RS Sailing are excited to join the UK RS Tera Class Association at the 2020 RS Tera Nationals which are being hosted at the legendary Weymouth & Portland Nationals Sailing Academy.
Racing will be held on Monday 31st August and Tuesday 1st September with the Championship consisting of up to 8 races. The RS Tera Pro National Champion, RS Tera Sport National Champion and RS Tera Club titles are up for grabs, promising fierce racing amongst this Junior fleet. With 100 boats entered in a staggering 3 hours and many more on the waiting list, it confirmed the RS Tera Class’ predictions that there was overwhelming interest for the event to go ahead if it was safe to do so.
The long-range forecast is currently showing a lighter tricky breeze for the Monday which builds into a fresher southwesterly on Tuesday. The mixture of conditions will challenge sailors throughout the fleet which should give all competitors a chance to shine.
Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy is a world-class sailing venue based on the Isle of Portland in Dorset. The location provides easy access to Portland Harbour with arguably some of the best sailing waters in the world. WPNSA has proved again to be leaders in event management, having been one of the few clubs around the UK to organise an event of this scale during the current pandemic.
The RS Sailing Team are on-site during the event providing a reduced service to ensure all the sailors can stay on the water and keep racing. We are recommending that you all take advantage of RS Sailing’s free postage to the event for anyone requiring any spares. This will help reduce the pressure on-site at the event. Head to the RS Sailing Store to check out the RS Tera spares and parts. Please email spares@rssailing.com or call 01794 526760 to place an order and claim your free postage.
Although the event will have a different feel to usual, with the changing rooms closed and social distancing key, the RS Tera Class and WPNSA have worked tirelessly to ensure that this event is a success. With other renowned Junior Classes cancelling their National Championships, the RS Tera Class Association should be proud of their unwavering dedication in getting their Junior sailors racing which will bring them a little bit of normality and freedom back into their lives. With awesome racing on the water and a warm bowl tasty WPNSA of pasta guaranteed onshore the vibe of this event will still be one that the RS sailors and their families know and love.
