What Aquavitesse thinks of the RS Neo
We wanted to know why the RS Neo is perfect for learning to sail and teaching in, so we spoke to Aquavitesse in the Netherlands and one of their instructors to find out more!
What Marieke, RS Dealer at Aquavitesse thinks.
Marieke loves the RS Neo as it’s the ideal boat for sailing schools – “it’s ideal for teaching in and durable but has great performance and is far from boring!”. A great concept that has been well-designed with a carbon mast and the lightweight hull allows for easy storage, stress-free maintenance and effortless sailing. Aquavitesse chooses the Neo for their adult and children summer sailing camps because it’s much easier to right than other boats that are similar in size, a handy feature when you’re teaching beginners!
The boat is so well balanced and has a good sail to hull weight ratio which makes it forgiving for younger children, not forgetting that the three toe straps are a great feature! RS have recognised that boats can’t be “one size fits all”, so having three different options allows for different sized people to use the boat! Marieke has also noticed that when people come to the club for a day of fun sailing, they choose the RS Neo over all the others! Maybe because they’re so easy to store on the beach when you’re hungry for a snack…
What Evi, a sailing instructor at Aquavitesse thinks.
Evi also thinks that the Neo is perfect for children and light adults to discover sailing because it’s lightweight, durable, stable but also allows for exciting performance – it’s fast enough to be thrilling! They are easy to own and maintain which is perfect for young adults and smaller children who don’t want to spend hours tidying up after a great day on the water.
When teaching, Evi has noticed that students are comfortable thanks to the ergonomic design, because it’s not convenient to sit on the floor students don’t form bad habits. They learn the correct posture by sitting on the side and waving to the fishes! This boat enables progression and more advanced sailing too, not just beginners – “you’re still able to feel rolling tacks if you want to and take your sailing skills up to the next level without having to change boat!”. It’s a really easy learning experience for younger students, more stable and easier to hike in than ever before!
