The RS Tera is repeatedly providing the proof at sail training centres across the US that it is the ideal boat for beginner sailing. With over 20 fleets across the states and a growing influence at many sailing clubs, the RS Tera is being used to give many young people their first steps in our sport.
“On our RS Teras we have our learn to sail classes and beginners, ages ranging from 7-13. Our Teras also serve as a junior racing platform for those just getting into the sport.” – Community Sailing Colorado.
Based in the Mid America Region on Cherry Creek Reservoir, Community sailing Colorado has the largest fleet in the mid America region, with 12 boats. They have a lively youth program and summer training for children to have a safe, fun and progressive learn-to-sail experience.
Newport Sea Base, California, were the first RS Tera fleet in the US, with a fleet of 12 boats. They use the RS Tera in their Sailing 1 and 2 programs, with their junior Sea Scouts, summer camps and they provide the springboard for budding sailors to move forward into the RS Feva and CFJ boats at the centre.
Sail Martha’s Vineyard, a well known sailing location and training centre on the East coast, also have a fleet of RS Teras. Director of Programs at Sail Martha’s Vineyard, Andy Nutton, gave this testimonial of how the RS Tera is used in their comprehensive sail training program.
“We at Sail Martha’s Vineyard are dedicated to providing outstanding sail training to the youth of the Vineyard and surrounding areas. With this in mind, we searched for boats that will allow us to provide everything a modern child needs to get ahead in sailing. The RS Tera does everything we need. It is a stable platform for young children to take to the water for the first time, with then the scope for these kids to develop their skills right the way up to top-level racing. Kid love to “Go fast and look cool” and the Tera does that in spades!”
The RS Tera is a perfect boat to sail for beginners, provides an active pathway into a nation wide and international racing fleet and can be used as the ideal boat to jump start young peoples sailing experiences to move on into other training and racing dinghies.
