What’s so special?
The RS Tera is known for being the perfect junior racing boat. The simple handling, stability yet high performance are what makes it ideal for entry-level to international competition level. The RS Tera gets our kids hooked on sailing for life and allows for progression and skill development. It’s packed with features that make it safe and easy, yet an adrenaline-charged experience. Peter Toft, the RS Tera Worlds Event Manager says one thing that surprises new Tera sailors is the “Tera hug”. Possibly invented by the former RS Tera International Class President Helena Barne. Before racing, Helena would gather young sailors in a one big circle which immediately united the sailors as teammates and friends. Peter says, “we like to be together as a team”.
What are our favourite features?
- It comes up dry from a capsize
- It is quick and simple to rig
- There are two sail sizes
We love the RS Tera class because it really is truly international, around 25 countries come together at the Worlds to race each year. Don’t just take our word for it, we continuously receive such positive reviews from our sailing community and the proof is that the class is growing every year. We just can’t get enough of the fun!
The power of people…
Just like our other classes, the RS Tera class is driven by impassioned, enthusiastic people all year round. Sailors and non-sailors from all over the world engage to help organise our legendary and memorable events. The RS Tera community have always helped each other on the trainer/parent side. If someone is unlucky and something breaks, the sailor can rely on the people, the club and community to help fix the problem. Peter says, “we always help each other, and can always settle costs later on. The primary goal is to ensure that the kids have a great time… together”. Ever working behind the scenes, our class association members and volunteers selflessly contribute towards the end goal – building incredible and fun sailing experiences! We want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your hard work, your teamwork undeniably makes our dream work!
What’s happening in 2021?
We were so gutted that the Euros were cancelled as a result of the pandemic, however, there is hope in sight for the RS Tera World Championships 2021. We are really looking forward to seeing our communities thrive and sail once again! Click here to find out more and sign up for pre-entry.
