The RS Feva is arguably the most versatile boat in the RS range. Sailed by youths striving for national glory, those getting into the sport, or parents on a summer holiday. You can set the RS Feva up to suit your needs. This boat caters for all stages of progression, so you can set your boat up according to your student’s level. For example, if they’re beginners, you can remove the jib and shrouds and use the sport main that you can wrap around the mast like a typical training boat. However, if they are improving quickly, you have the option to increase challenge.
For the sailors looking to get into racing, you can sail with the XL main and the club jib which will give you the same dynamics as the racing boat without the additional cost and maintenance of the race controls. One of the RS Feva’s greatest strengths, is having a simple asymmetric spinnaker which is the correct size for young people to practise and perfect. As young sailors inevitably do, they will get it wrong and capsize, however being able to retrieve the spinnaker easily and carrying on with training is far more of an adventure than an ordeal.
With a high boom and a deep cockpit, the RS Feva lends itself well to adults jumping in and giving it a go; or for the advanced sailors amongst us who want to whizz around on holiday whilst the kids are on shore. You can put the XL main on, rig yourself a forestay with the jib halyard and blast off downwind. The RS Feva truly captures the essence of performance sailing in a kid’s boat, what more could you ask for when you’re on holiday!
